Polish Maldives - Gródek Park Jaworzno

Gródek Park is one of the most picturesque places in the Silesian Voivodeship. Located on the site of a former quarry in Jaworzno, it enchants tourists with azure waters, wooden footbridges, and a unique landscape reminiscent of exotic islands. For this reason, this place is often called the "Polish Maldives."

History and Creation of Gródek Park

Gródek Park was established on the site of a former dolomite quarry. After mining ended in the 1990s, the area gradually underwent reclamation, and the water filling it gave it a unique charm. The "Polish Maldives" consist of two water reservoirs: the post-exploitation Orka (excavator) reservoir and the Wydra reservoir. In 2015, the city of Jaworzno transformed the second Gródek reservoir area into an attractive landscape park, adapting it to the needs of tourists, and today it operates as the Gródek Park Arboretum.

Attractions of Gródek Park

  • Azure waters and wooden footbridges

The biggest attraction of Gródek Park is its water reservoirs, which are characterized by extremely clear, turquoise water. Wooden footbridges above the water surface give the place a fairy-tale character and allow walking almost over the water.

  • Walking paths and viewpoints

The surrounding area and the park offer numerous walking paths leading to picturesque viewpoints. It is an ideal place for photography lovers and people seeking contact with nature. Dogs are allowed in the park area.

  • Underwater world for divers

For those who enjoy active recreation, Gródek Park offers diving opportunities. This possibility is available only at the diving center located by the Orka reservoir, colloquially called the Koparki quarry. At the bottom of the reservoir, there are many interesting objects, including a car wreck, excavators sunk at a depth of 18m (from which the reservoir's colloquial name derives), and specially submerged elements enriching the underwater landscape.
