Underground Olkusz Museum

Underground Olkusz Museum is an extraordinary tourist attraction in Olkusz that takes visitors deep into the city's history. On two underground tourist routes in the market square – beneath the former town hall and in the cellars of the county office – the history of the city and mining of silver, lead, and later zinc is presented in a fantastic way.

Rabsztyn Castle

Rabsztyn Castle is just 3 km from Olkusz's Old Town. It is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved sites around Olkusz, situated in the picturesque area of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. The castle, originally built in the 13th century, is one of the stops on the famous Eagles' Nests Trail – a network of medieval fortresses stretching between Krakow and Częstochowa.

Błędów Desert

Błędów Desert is a unique area in Poland and Europe located near Olkusz, being one of the largest sandy areas in the country. It lies on the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, with an area of about 32 km². This desert is sometimes called the "Polish Sahara" due to its characteristic sand dunes resembling a desert landscape. It can be admired from viewpoints such as Róża Wiatrów and Czubatka in Klucze as well as Dąbrówka in Chechło.

Market Square in Olkusz

In the Olkusz Market Square you will find colorful tenement houses, a restored town hall, the county office, and a church – places that should definitely be on every visitor's itinerary. The charming atmosphere of the square leaves a very pleasant impression and encourages further walking, especially in sunny autumn weather. The red tiles of the houses and fragments of brick walls contrast with the blue sky. The dominant building around the square is undoubtedly the Basilica of St. Andrew. It is a historic Gothic parish church with rich interior decor. It is worth taking a walk towards the reconstructed tower with a fragment of the medieval wall. The preserved part of the building is an example of former city fortifications. On the square, you can also find the PTTK Regional Museum, next to the fountain, and a few dozen meters away the Firefighting Museum of the Olkusz Land.

Silver Trail of Olkusz Miners

Silver Trail of Olkusz Miners is an idea for a walk that uniquely brings closer the history of Olkusz’s lead and silver ore mining. Its main part is the educational and historical path “Silver Trail of Olkusz Miners” running through the charming Old Town of Olkusz. It consists of 18 sculptures of Olkusz miners created by the famous sculptor Jan Siuta.
